August 2021 calendar page

Sunday August 1, 2021

Last year probably around this time of the year I made a card using a similar design. I loved it so much and when it came time to create a page for our group of girls for 2021 this is what I wanted to create so I can look at it and the quote for the whole month.  For the background I took a large sheet of water color paper (3 of them- I had to make 12 pages for 12 girls) I used Prima water colors and painted the sheets. I added a little Kuretake Gansai gold water colors.  I dried them. As they finished totally drying I used my Paper trey ink background die and cut 12 white pieces. I die cut the navy blue card stock 12 times using another PTI die and stamped the Verse rubber stamp sentiment and heat embossed. I then cut the watercolor paper down to an A2 size and assembled the pages. I distressed the calendar month with some Ranger ink and added it to the page. I finished with some Pretty Pink Posh jewels.. I am excited to know that 12 people will enjoy this fun quote for a whole month.

NEW BEGINNINGS / BABY/HOME/JOB

For my card I went with a new baby... I have been itching to use this stamp. It's an old wooden red rubber from Mostly Animals. I love it. I have this one and a lion.. I thought this is perfect for a girl baby card. I stamped the image on water color paper and then using Mission Gold wc painted the image. The little parts of gold are with Kuretake Gansi gold wc paint.  I cut it down using a Lil Inker die. I stamped the wc pink with Taylored Expressions sentiment and added this all to a piece of pink card stock.  I wish you could see the colors in real lift. I love the jewel colors.

It's your birthday

Saturday January 2, 2021

I hope you all had a nice safe quiet New Year.. We just stayed home as we usually do and watch tv and added some Lavender essential oil on the dogs to calm them from the fireworks that we get here in the country. I hope that 2021 is a healthier safer happier year.

With the new year it means new birthdays.. Well my brothers is the 8th and my grandsons is the 13th so I created the two cards below.
The first one is for my brother Mark and second one for my grandson Josh. I used Prima confession pan paints and created the backgrounds. I splattered some Kuretake Gold watercolors to both then I let it dry for a few days.  I then used Simon Says allover stamp and heat embossed one in gold and other in black. I used some Navy blue card stock and die cut the Taylored Expressions flowers 4 times. layered them twice and added to the card. I used the same navy for the sentiment and heat embossed the Simon Says sentiments. I really like how they came out.. I always cringe when it comes to male cards and especially when they are adult guys.

Christmas card and Birthday card

 Wednesday December 23, 2020

This Christmas card is for my Daughter in law.. once removed but never from my heart.. and her husband. I hand painted this Christmas tree and since they live in Vegas I added some snow that I am sure they are missing.  I kept it quite simple. I didn't want to add ornaments but now that I look at it I could of added a bird or squirrel. I used Mission gold and Gouache for the snow.

Happy birthday for my family guys - 4 cards

Saturday October 10, 2020

Hello..
I have two family grown up male birthdays in Oct. and two more in Nov. so I decided to do a painting similar to how I did some cards some months back.. this time I just did blue/green/gold in brush width lines.. I am not sure if I like this as much as the ones I did before where it was more of a wash of colors. But I think for guys it's going to work out.. I used Shin Han water colors and Kuretake gold then did the circles and black foliage with Fabre Castell brush pens. The sentiments are from Simon Says and Paper Pretties. I cut them down to about 4 x 5.25 and added to a white card base. My hubby likes them so I think they are male approved.

Red leaves - oragne leaves - Creative with Stamps #42 Autumn

Sunday September 1, 2019

Hello.. It's September 1st so we have another month long
challenge over at Creative with Stamps #42
Our theme this month is AUTUMN

Note: CWS challenges to not have many "guidelines", but please read and follow the few we do have to be eligible to win.

Digging through my stamps I saw this Technique Tuesday sentiment and thought perfect. So I grabbed my Stampin up stamps and dies and stamped on watercolor paper. I then used my Mission gold watercolor paints and went for the red/orange/yellow and gold leaves.. I then cut them out. I used the leftover paints and took another piece of watercolor paper and created the background and dried. I then took red and black and did the splatters. Dried that then I took Versa mark and wiped it on the edges and dipped into embossing powder and heat embossed. I stamped the sentiment on some Quick quote scraps and heat embossed in the same powder from Simon Says. I used Spellbinder rectangle die to cut it out. Once I was ready to put the card together, I thought the leaves needed a hint of gold so I took Kuretake gold watercolor paint and went over the leaves and dried. You can barely notice it. I then laid out the sentiment and images and put a few leaves right on the background and a few on foam dots. I added a few twine bows to the stems. I am not ready for autumn.. but I guess more ready for it then winter.. lol.
Challenges:
Hand stamped Sentiments #322 - photo
Penny's paper crafty #445 - anything goes
Simon Wednesday - anything goes
Word art Wednesday wk. 402-403 - anything goes
As you like it - favorite way to add sentiment - I love to emboss and frame the sentiment so it fits with the image.

Birthday wishes - Always Fun Challenge #105

Monday April 8, 2019

Welcome to another challenge at Always Fun Challenge#105
Our theme this week is FLOWERS

I love digging out my Mission gold paints and trying to create. So for this card I took Simon says flowers and stamped three on water color paper. I colored with the Mission paints and fussy cut them out. I went around the edges with a black pen. I used Birch press stamp and scrap paper and die cut the leaves.  For the background I took another piece of water color paper and created the background. It needed something more so I took Tambi gold paint and did splatter and then ran the brush around the outer edge of the paper. I then added some dots to the centers of the flowers to tie it all together. I finished adding some sequins and stamped the sentiment.  I made sure all was dry this time so it didn't run like my April 1st card.  learned that lesson.. well at least for now.

Christmas wishes - Always Fun Challenge #83

Monday November 5, 2018

Welcome back to another challenge at
our theme WATER COLOR

So last year around spring time I created some of these background pieces. Taking water color paper and Kuretake paints and wetting the wc paper with the paints and then taking plastic wrap and laying it down on the wet paint and scrunching the plastic wrap up and setting it aside to dry. So I thought this looked a little like snow background. I stamped the Paper Trey ink image and colored with copics and then took Spectrum Noir sparkle pen and went over the snow areas. I heat embossed the Simon Says sentiment.  I love the CAS look.

Chocolate makes everything better - Always Fun Challenges #82

Monday October 29, 2018

Are you ready for another fun challenge??
Well Always Fun Challenges #82 has one..
The theme is HALLOWEEN

I wanted to make a fun card that could be Halloween but not at the same time. but looking at it after I got started I think it's more Halloween. Oh well.  I started by stamping the CC designs dragon image on water color paper then added Tim Holtz (crazy bird accessories) the pumpkin and broom. I colored in the images with Mission paints and I painted the night sky and added stars with Kuretake white starry paint and flicked it on the card and my desk.. I even used a box to put the piece in.. how I managed to get it on my desk I don't know.. I then took Reverse confetti sentiment and heat embossed it.  I think no matter what age you are chocolate makes everything better...

happy birthday gullfriend! - Always Happy Birthday #8

Wednesday August 1-31, 2018

Welcome to another challenge for August at
Our theme for this month is
BIRTHDAY ANYTHING GOES / OPT: WATER

So this card really made me smile.. I stared by using my cloud template to create the sky. I had a piece of water color paper I created last year.. (Kuretake paint and plastic wrap scrunched and set aside to dry) I used My favorite things wave die and cut a little piece off and added it straight to the card base. I then used an embossing pen and added white embossing powder for the white caps and heat embossed the sentiment in white (the hb is from Tech. Tues. the gullfriend is MFT) I added foam behind and added this to the card. I stamped some Simon says sea gulls to the sky. I used My favorite things sea gulls and colored with copics and die cut them out.  I love the sentiment.

you are mermazing - Colour Crazy Challenge

Friday July 13, 2018

I am now full time on the design team at Colour crazy.. I was so happy when I got the chance to join and not just be a guest designer.

Welcome to another fun challenge at
Our theme is always ANYTHING GOES..

it's a colour challenge.. no pre colored images can be used.
We don't have a sponsor but there is blog candy. Now who doesn't love blog candy.. or any kind of candy??..

Since we don't have a sponsor we are able to use any stamp so this is what I created.
I was digging through a container I keep on my table and found this piece of background I created months ago. It is where you take the Kuretake paint (can use any paint) and added it to water color paper you put the paint on pretty thick then you take a piece of plastic wrap and scrunch if over the piece and set it aside to dry. Once dry you remove the plastic wrap and you end up with something like this. Well it reminded me of an underwater scene. So I took out My favorite things stamps and dies an painted the images with Mission paints and Ranger ink. I laid out the scene and then added the sentiment. I used some half pearls for the bubbles and her earring.
Thank you for all the positive loving comments you leave. It's so encouraging. I truly appreciate them. I really need to mention this more often.

thank you for being such a good friend

Tuesday May 8, 2018

This is another Thank you card but this I am giving to someone who can give to someone else. So it's a little different than the other Thank you cards I have been creating.  This technique was again kinda like what Sandy Allnock did.. I used Gina K stamps and sentiment. I then used Kuretake water color inks. I went over the images with Spectrum Noir sparkle pen once it was dry. I like the blue/green/yellows. I think I like my Mission gold water colors vs. Kuetake paints. I think I get the missions to flow better.

 A fun challenge.. BINGO

Our sponsor for this challenge is Star Stampz
and I am using the image Kimono portrait

This is the BINGO card to follow..
I used: Ribbon / Digi or stamp / Die Cut

I wanted to keep the background simple so I added some tape adhesive behind the ribbon and added strips of ribbon to the background. I then colored the image with copics and added some dots of gold with Kuretake paint. I used My favorite things die to cut her out. I added foam behind and added the image to the base. I then used Stampin up sentiment and die and used some of the gold paint to go along the edge.  I love the clean look and fun colors.   hope you find time to play along.
