With sympathy and love - Creative with Stamps #40

This is my design team card. I stamped the Simon says flower set and then with a black pen drew in some black stripes. I stamped the SS sentiment. I colored the image with copics.  I added a few white gel pen highlights. I added a orange strip down the left side.

Hello back to my bog..

Today over at Always Fun Challenge #110

we have a new challenge.

Our them for this challenge is USE AN EMBOSSING FOLDER

 

I knew as soon as I saw the challenge was EMBOSSING FOLDER what I was going to use.. This awesome Sizzix embossing folder that came in Simon Says monthly kit box some months back.. I used Stampin up gray cardstock and spritzed it with water then ran it through my Vagabond machine. Oh the texture is so beautiful. I then used Hero Arts prayers die and sentiments. I heat embossed the white words and layered the prayers 4 times. I know I need to make sympathy cards but they are hard to make not knowing what to add for the background or focal point but I think this works great. I will be using this embossing folder more. I love the look of it.

Ok so I was given a challenge by a past co worker who needed a sympathy card for our past deputy's father who was the quintessential cowboy... Well cowboy images are not in my catalog of stamps so I asked a dear stamper friend who sells Stampin up... she just had the horse but she borrowed from another SU friend the boots and hat.. So this is what I came up with. I used SU ink and stamped off the horse on a piece of scrap first then on the Kraft card stock as I just wanted it to be faint in the background. I then stamped the boots and hat and fussy cut out. I at first painted the boots brown and light blue /tan scroll work but when I sent my SU friend a photo (thank goodness for smart phones) she said the boots were to colorful.. So re-stamped them in the same brown as the horse and went over them with a light sponge of Ranger ink. and added them  over the painted boots...…. I painted the hat with SU re-inkers. The boot on the right is flush to the card the boot on the left is on foam dots and the hat part is foam dots and flush to the boot.  I stamped the Hero arts sentiment and added some shading under the boots. I think my friend will like it.

Welcome back for another challenge at Crafty Catz.. I have a card to show you and hope you will join us over at Crafty Catz #447.

Our theme is LOTS OF LAYERS

I am using the image called Country child #5.. I colored her with copics. I then went over the red flowers and flowers on her shoes with Spectrum Noir sparkle pen. I used Lil Inker stitch die to cut the image out. I then layered the image on black card stock. I tied the ribbon at the top just above the leaves. I then layered this on the yellow and the teal. I used Hero arts prayers stamp set and heat embossed the sentiment. I felt like she's sending sympathy thoughts.

A few weeks ago I saw Sandy Allnock  create some cards where she used silhouette type images and then did some simple water coloring for the background.. Her water coloring was just a little.. I can never seem to just do a little.. I end up always going to the outside. I used Gina K sentiment and Tech. Tuesday images. I then used my Mission paints and added color. I dried and added some sequins. I love the colors and vibrant look.

Well it's time for a new challenge at

 Aud Sentiments #187 - the theme is

Again I had a request for a Sympathy card so this is what I came up with.. The small flowers are from Simon Says and it's a little group of flowers.. I kept adding them and then as I was adding it started to look like lilacs so that is what I went for.. I added a few little leaves. I know those aren't lilac leaves but It needed some greenery. I added copic pen in real light blue background around the flowers. I then used the Hero Arts sentiments and cut out the Prayers four times and layered it then clear embossed it 4 times to give it a shinny thick look.  It's hard to see the Stampin up purple background but it's there and that is what the Prayers is cut from Elegant eggplant. It almost looks black but it's a deep purple. I colored the images with copics and used a little Prisma colored pencils for the flower inside. I added white gel pen for the little dot on the flower center. I added some Nuvo drops on the background.

With Sympathy

 Well hope you've been enjoying your summer. It has been nice. I am so glad being retired that I get to enjoy the sun instead of looking out a work window and wishing.. Or just enjoying an hour in the card driving home.

 

I had a request for a sympathy card so I put my thinking cap on and this is what I created.  I used some Simon Says flowers and leaves from various sets. I used Paper Trey Ink sentiment. When I stamped the images I used Memento grey ink. I didn't want a stark black.. I think the grey work.. what do you think?? I colored the images with copics then went in with Prisma colored pencils and white gel pen and completed the images. I added some Nuvo drops to the background. I love the way the flowers came out.. I have been using more and more colored pencils with copics and I think getting better and better.

With Sympathy

Well it's been a nice start to May. Missing my daughter who lives in Montana now.. she moved there from Colorado a year ago..so planning a trip to visit her. It's about an 8 hour drive from what I hear.. It's  been a few years since I have seen her and much needed visit is in order.. I don't know if it will be later this summer or early fall.. Well see what works out best.   

 

I was digging through my box of stamps. I have a separate box for Paper Trey Ink, Simon Says, Technique Tuesday and various stamps.. Not to mention shelving filled with wood mounted stamps and CD cases filled with acrylic. AND big boxes with seasonal stamps.. Dang there are so many.  Well I love PTI and this one caught my eye again.  I made one last month but different flowers. I love the delicate looking flower.. it was time to play with it again.. there are different sentiments in the set.. but chose this "with sympathy".. I used PTI inks. I then took a copic pen and did that little flick at the bottom of the flower. I took a black sharpie and made the border around the images. I added some Nuvo drops.  I really like the added copic to give the flower more real-ness look.

I was asked to make a sympathy card by a friend.  I recently made a card for myself to give to a friend and now another friend asked if would make her one.

 I used some masking tape to block the center sentiment area and then using Paper Trey ink stamps and Simon says stamps to created the flowers, leaves and dots. I used Ranger/Altnew inks. I hope it's not to bright.. But who says sympathy cards need to be drab. I think it's bright and comforting.  I used a white gel pen on the blue flowers. I then stamped with Hero Arts the sentiment. I used Hero Arts Prayers die and cut it out 4 times and layered it. I then embossed it with Stampin Up grey powder. I embossed it about 4 times to make it thick and shinny. I added a few clear Nuvo drops.

With Sympathy for friend

It's always sad when a friend looses a parent.  My co-worker (when I worked) just lost her father.  (I am still in contact with a few co-workers and so they fill me in on important things.) I  wanted to make a sweet nice comforting card for her. I used my Paper Trey Ink stamps and stamped with Ranger inks. I did the center flicking area with copics to give some more depth to the flowers. I like the added look it gives. I haven't tried this part of the stamp. I usually go more for the poppy looking flowers. I like the look. I used a sharpie black pen and did the border around the card. I added some Nuvo drops.  I hope it gives her comfort. Having lost both of my parents it's sad. I miss them every day.
