If I've told you once - Paper Play Sketches

Wednesday August 2, 2017

It's time for a new sketch at Paper Play Sketches #50
This is the sketch below.  I cant wait to see what you create. Have fun and post to Paper Play Sketches.

This is the card I made to go with the above sketch.  The little purple fish is the upper right corner piece in the sketch. The bubbles are the three circles above the banner piece. I wanted to create a water theme card and this is the way I interpreted the sketch.
I stamped the Stampin up girl, bottle and I love you banners in the bottle on Bristol card stock. I masked off the girl and used Ranger inks to create the water background. I then spritzed with water and patted dry. I then stamped all of the fish, grass, crab and starfish and colored them, the girl and the I Love You banners in the bottle with Zig water markers.. The other images are My Favorite Things.
I then laid out everything  and adhered all of the pieces down. I stamped the sentiment which is from Stampin Up and added it on foam tape then added the crab and star fish. I then added the Nuvo drops for bubbles and the three larger ones that fit the sketch. I went over a few of the pieces with Spectrum Noir glitter brush.

I sure hope you play along. Just have fun and create.

Live Laugh Love - Catch the bug ABC

Monday August 28, 2017

Well today being Monday and at Catch the bug that means Anything But a Card.. ABC

So few months back I made a plaque which I have on  the coffee table ... It was time to make another plaque

So I cut a piece of watercolor paper 5X7 and spritzed with Dylusion sprays and water then dried it. I then I took some texture paste and added some stencil paste areas.. I can see I need to figure out better placement but I am learning.. I know next time... I then used some Art Anthology sand black paste and another stencil. I used a couple different stamps and stamped in different areas around the plaque. I used some Distressed crayon in black and went around the edges but it was too dark so I then went over the area with Lumiere paint.  I die cut the Live Laugh Love butterfly trio with Simon Says stitched circle die. I also cut a chip board circle for each image. I colored the images with copics and used Ranger inks to fill in around the image. I took Lumiere paint and dabbed it on the circle. I adhered the images to the chip board and added to the plaque. I then adhered the plaque to a piece of chipboard to give it strength. Right now I have it on my bakers rack so we can see it during meal time.

This is my card. I planned on making a get well card but then changed my mind after I had it colored.  So it's a wishing you a happy birthday instead..
I used Taylored Expressions postage die, I also used Amy Tangerine yellow background paper. The banner dies are My Favorite Things.  The sentiment is Simon Says.  I colored the image with copics and used my cloud template. I added a little glossy accents to the flower centers.
Bright fun card. Fun image to play with. I hope you get over to the Bugaboo store and pick up the fun image.

Our thoughts and Prayers - Aud Sentiments #187

Thursday August 24 - September 4, 2017

Well it's time for a new challenge at
Aud Sentiments #187 - the theme is
Thinking of you / Sympathy card... PLUS Sentiment
If you need inspiration head over to Aud and see the DT inspirations.

Again I had a request for a Sympathy card so this is what I came up with.. The small flowers are from Simon Says and it's a little group of flowers.. I kept adding them and then as I was adding it started to look like lilacs so that is what I went for.. I added a few little leaves. I know those aren't lilac leaves but It needed some greenery. I added copic pen in real light blue background around the flowers. I then used the Hero Arts sentiments and cut out the Prayers four times and layered it then clear embossed it 4 times to give it a shinny thick look.  It's hard to see the Stampin up purple background but it's there and that is what the Prayers is cut from Elegant eggplant. It almost looks black but it's a deep purple. I colored the images with copics and used a little Prisma colored pencils for the flower inside. I added white gel pen for the little dot on the flower center. I added some Nuvo drops on the background.

Sending a SUMMER hello - Paper Play Sketches

Wednesday August 23, 2017

Well it's time for another challenge at
and this time it's a color challenge

This is the color card for you to follow

This is my card.. Can you tell what the background is??? not the stamping part---- but the paper???????
It's a color chart you find in the paint section of your home décor store...
I have a big stack of them and I thought hum I need a couple colors of blues and when I was looking through my designer papers the colors didn't seem to go together... I though dang this clashes with this and so on and so forth.. So I remembered my box of paint sample cards and found the perfect blues.. They don't clash cause they are meant work together.
The bikini colors is also from a paint chart card..

So I have this stamp set that came in my Simon Says kit of the month with these awesome clouds, birds, sentiment.. So I white embossed the clouds and black embossed the sentiment. The seagulls are just stamped on and no embossing. I then took a couple Simon Says stamps.. one is a series of dots and the other was a series of hearts. I stamped them on the purple and white embossed. I used the bikini die and cut them out then added glossy accents to them. I didn't add it to the tie areas but just the larger areas.
I like that the layout of the colors kinda give the water/sky look.
I then added this to my card base and called it a super fun card.
if you look on the left hand side you can see the paint colors names and numbers.. LOL..

thank you

Monday August 21, 2017

Ok this is the fifth and last card.. I hope my friend is please with the cards.  She has 5 thank you cards that I would be proud to give anyone so hope she is too.
For this card it was the simplest to do.. I used the overall Hero Arts stamp and heat embossed in some sparkle blue embossing powder. I then die cut the YOU from My Favorite Things 5 times and layered it. I used Stampin Up brocade blue ink for the "Thank" and laid it on the you.. This card was done. Fast and easy.  I wish you could see the sparkle this embossing powder gives. It's a very monochromatic card.

A friend is someone who knows - a tag for Raelene

Sunday August 20, 2017

My daughter showed me a tag she liked.  I think she found it on Facebook.. I don't know who created the beautiful tag she showed me.. I wish I did so if it's one of you that frequent my blog.. please let me know..
I pretty much followed the colors, sentiment, leaves and flowers.. I did use different flowers even though I had the Simon says stamps she used but her tag must of been larger cause it would of been to crowded on this tag. I just happened to have the same sentiment but hers was smaller. I did add Nuvo drops to the card and some dots from SS.. I colored the background with Ranger inks. I colored the flowers with Zig markers. I added ribbon and called it done.
(I added Ranger micro distress glaze paste over the inked background so it wouldn't show finger prints when touched.. should I add before I stamped the leaves or after???? I added before and was hard to get the leaves darker.)

I love this tag and it's off to my daughter Raelene..

View of the ribbons  its variegated and love the colors

Dare to dream - Catch the bug Free Friday

Friday August 18, 2017

Welcome to another Free Friday at Catch the bug  where you can see what the Design team created with this FF image, and the image from Bugaboo is called Decon school sign it.. you can find it in the store.

I dug out my Amy Tangerine designer paper because I knew it had the numbers print in it.  This is perfect for school theme. I wasn't sure what sentiment I wanted so I decided on these from Tech. Tues.  I like the positivity it gives and if this is given to a child it's perfect or for a teacher.
I used Taylored Expressions postage die. I colored the image with Copics.  This card was so simple to make and I sure hope you find time to pick this free image up.

thank you

Thursday August 17, 2017

Ok so this is the fourth "thank you" card.. I think I am on a roll.... I already have card 5 in my mind.. WooHoo
So I first started with Kuretake Gansi water color on water color paper.  As it was drying I then stamped the My Favorite Things flowers / leaves with Altnew inks. I die cut them out and I die cut the sentiment also from MFT.. I layered it 5 times to give strength and boldness.  I then cut the water color piece down a little and adhered it to a piece of dark blue card base. I then added the flowers and thank you and added some Nuvo drops around the card and Spectrum Noir to the flowers. I really like the background color and makes the blue flowers pop.. I love to water color and playing with colors.

Sending wags your way - Paper Play Sketches

Wednesday August 16, 2017

So we are half way through August.. where is this month going?? Least the weather is still nice..  and now it's time for another challenge at

This is the sketch for you to follow

So this sketch took me awhile to figure what I wanted to do...
I knew I had a small area to add either a sentiment or an image.. So digging through my stamps I found this cute My Favorite Things dog and the sentiment I chose from the same set fit perfect on my Stampin up scallop punch. The three little paw prints are from Art Impressions.  The teal paper is a scrap of Quick Quote DP. I also distressed the edges with some Quick Quote chalk inks.  I added a little ribbon to the top of the dog piece so it just had a little more interest. Oh and the images are colored with copics.

I sure hope you play along and let's see what you come up with..

If you have time now is the perfect time to get those masculine cards done. Birthday, get well, thinking of you, anniversary.....

Well since I did a MAN card for the August 1st start of our challenge Boys to Men.. I chose to do a  BOYS card for the mid month reminder...
I chose to use My Favorite Things stamps.. I first used Ranger inks and created the background colors. I did some water spots on the ink.. I then took the silver  Nuvo paste and Simon Says star stencil and created the stars.. I then stamped the images and colored with Copics.  I added some Spectrum Noir to different images. I added glossy accents to the rocket window and space suit helmet. I colored the sentiment paper with Night of Navy by Stampin Up and I embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder. THANKS

Monday August 14, 2017

This is my third "THANKS" card.. I started this card by stamping the flowers but I did not like what I created.. SO I closed my craft-room door and walked away.. I was frustrated.. I am sure you have been there a time or two.. Well I made some granola bars and I have an Instant Pot and the night before I made Yogurt and it was at the end of the 8 hours it needed to firm up so I decided to get this finished yogurt jarred up.. I love making my own yogurt and sometimes I like to crumble my granola bar into it.. Oh I also made some Lemon Curd in the Instant Pot... Ok so now that my mind was refreshed I headed back into the craft-room... I cut down the card and got rid of most of the things I did not like.. Still wasn't happy so I then colored the background in blue using Straedtler water color crayons.  Ok it's looking better but still not happy.. So since I needed a "thank you" or "thanks" I looked at the stamps and dies I pulled for these cards.. WELL I saw this "THANKS" die and thought WA-LA.. this is it... and if it didn't work. OK.. cause I didn't like it anyhow.. I then cut fun foam in black and adhered  the colored letters to it. when I started to lay them in the negative spaces.. I fell in love.  I loved the look. This is what it needed. I used Wink of Stella on the flowers. I added Nuvo drops. Oh the flowers / leaves are stamped with Ranger inks. The flowers are the new My Favorite Things July kit of the month..

<< YOU ARE AWESOME>>

Sunday August 13, 2017

Ok this is the last card I made using the stamp block, ink, water technique by Jennifer McGuire.. I used a smaller block.
Well that left a big area of nothing.. So I took my Simon Says stripe stamp and stamped in black and cut in small strips. I added them to the card. I added the Tech. Tuesday sentiment and some Nuvo drops.. I mounted it on a piece to teal card stock and attached to a white card base.
My hubby didn't like the stripes but the more I look at it I do. I don't know what else I could of done. I didn't want to cut the image down so this was option I came up with.. What would you have done?

Thinking of you

Saturday August 12, 2017

Oh MY I AM IN LOVE with this technique. if you saw my Tuesday posting you know that I watched a video
Jennifer McGuire did where she took a stamping block and squished inks on it and then spritzed with water and laid the inked block on water color paper..
Well this is another one I did..
The only issue is trying to find a sentiment and not cover the beautiful inked area. I just stamped the Concord and 9th sentiment and added a few Nuvo drops.  I layered it on black and then on a white card base. CAS..

I then stamped My Favorite Things wood box, flowers, nest of eggs and milk can. I colored them with Zig markers and used their die. I then added more clouds to the background using my cloud template and then added the stamped images. The sentiment is from My Favorite things and the stitched arch die. I added some grass with flicks of my copics.  I love how you can use digi stamps and stamps together. They all go along great and I think make great cards.
