Unscripted Sketch #224 challenge.  This week the sketch is quite simple. I hope you head over to Unscripted and play along.

 

 I thought I would try a fall theme Happy Birthday card. My birthday is in November and I have other family/friends that have birthdays  in the fall months.  I thought I would use art glitter on the image and give it a nice shine. I used color pens first to color the images and then put color glitter over the ink areas I like the look and very little of the color pen can be seen and that is fine. I think I may try this again. I have so much of that art glitter that was so popular years ago.

I chose to use AKV school kids for the image and stay with the school theme of the photo. Awesome paper from Sassafras helped me make the card. Fun colors.

Catch the bug Free Friday brings you MONSTER BIRTHDAY PRESENT

Isn't this a cute happy card? I love the little happy image and thought the bright colors just made him/her a happier little monster. This was a fun card to make and I needed that special yellow against the blue banner and so used washi tape and just laid it down three times to build the color. Not like I don't have enough washi tape.  The happy birthday is kind of small and I guess I could of moved it over closer but my intention when I stamped it was to move the image piece over to the edge. But once I had it there I did not care for it so moved it over. Lot's of times I am the worst critic as the recipient love my cards and don't see the flaws I see. I love this craft.

It's time for another challenge at Aud Sentiment #90  The theme is   "for a child sentiment"

 

 
Our sponsor for this challenge is Beccy's Place - she has some cute images and I chose to use Lily and I thought she looked like she was offering this lily flower to the squirrel.

I decided to not use DP for my card but make my own clouds using a template I made and ranger ink. I die cut the squirrel from Taylor Expression stamp/die set. I used color pencils to color the image and a little sparkle on her wings. This was a fun image thanks to Beccy's Place.

Paper Pretties #277 challenge for this week is NO DESIGNER PAPER

This I thought would kind of be a challenge because I knew the images I had to work with... But I figured it out and am very pleased with the results. (I will never give up my DP thought, but once in awhile it's ok)

I used Ballerina Sophia masking her off and using PTI music and basic retro stamps for the background. I had to use music WHY? because she is dancing and the music fit the theme of the image. Wouldn't this be darling for that daughter or granddaughter for her dance recital. I have a granddaughter that takes lessons.. hum might have to put this one aside.

Good day, any one notice it's getting colder, darker lately. I really have a love - hate relationship with this time of year. I need the sun to feel energized but love the coziness of the cooler weather. Time to break out the nice quilt, enjoy some hot chocolate and read a good book with my dog curled beside me. Not that I cant do this in the summer time but colder weather makes it more comfy.

I was thinking of hot chocolate when I made my card. I used color pencils and really like the look. Again I dug in my scrap container and found this die cut to fill that empty space under the sentiment.

Just wanted to share this card and know that I can make cards that don't belong in a DT theme. LOL.

This is the card I made using the above sketch. See how easy it is to follow the sketch. I hope you play along. I have had this stamp set from Reverse Confetti for awhile and been waiting to use it and found this the perfect time. I used two different color box inks to ink the feather and love the look. The card was a little plain with just the words and feather so I used some Mr. Huey spritz to add some color then I used the clear glittery spray so it has a nice shine to it. Use some favorite colors - the dusty rose and turquoise/teal. Love this card.

Cute huh? I used some Stella glitter pen on the yellow nose and mouth but you really cant get the full effect on the computer. In real life it looks like candle light behind it. Catch the bug New Release Tuesday brings you GOOFY HALLOWEEN CAT - this one is really goofy cat. I had to pull out this cool cat Halloween paper from Recollection and of course some scary spiders that I die cut using Taylored Expression die..I thought with him being a little scared he needs to be set at an angle. Goofy Cat.

I love these colors the purple, orange, green are one of my favorite color themes, so fall/autumn my favorite time of the year for rich colors.

How are we in the middle of September already?? I can't believe the older you get the faster life goes.

Well it's time for another sketch from Unscripted Sketches #222

We don't have many players lately at Unscripted Sketches so I hope you find time to head over and play along with our sketch. It's fun to see the awesome cards that do get entered. I'd love the see more players.

This is the card I made using the sketch... see you don't have to follow it to the "T"... just close to the sketch. You can turn it, as I did, and or make a scrapbook page, a framed picture.. just play along.

If you have been reading my past post's I told you about going through my papers and sorting out the colors into other box's and making my life easier. Well I came across this flower that I obviously did at one time or another. I really do not remember when I did this but it is my stamp - penny black- and it would be colors I used. So I recycled it and made it part of my card.. Sweet huh. I love that I could make this card using an old image.

Boy those two weeks went by fast and it's time for another challenge at Aud Sentiments.

 I really wanted to keep this card simple as the image is so darling and I did not want to fussy cut anything because of the leaves and because this is what the card is all about. I did not want to use copics so I dug out the prisma pencils and colored her in. I love this look and fun colors. I had to add the touches of Washi tape to kind of pull it together. The sentiment is from Technique Tuesday.  I remember as a little girl raking up leaves and then jumping in them and this kind of reminded me of that. Not all of the leaves have fallen yet so she's waiting to jump later in the season..

Paper Pretties #275 Distress is this weeks theme. I thought I would distress the paper and give this a hilly look since the skate board dude is flying through the air and the road is below..way way below, he's really catching some air.. His name is Skater Zac

 

I love this card, the colors, the papers, it was really a fun card to make.  (I always seem to say that, don't I?) I again used some scraps from my scrap box of papers and just tore them. I fussy cut out the skater Zac image and just left the yellow card base as it looked like a nice sunny day.

Catch the bug new release - FLY BY WITCH

How do you like this new release??? It's cute huh. I chose some of my favorite colors to showcase her. I also love the image and coloring her in. This is complete with the sentiment too, how cool is that.  I think this will have to go to one of my grandchildren.

I used a Halloween skull embossing folder you can kind of see it on the orange. The green was with a dot embossing folder and die, I made the purple strip off to the left side using a piece of lace on tape and glitter. I  hope the glitter come over ok on the screen. Welcome back to Sunday Stella Sketch #141 at Catch the bug  We are back with a new sketch every week. So get out those images and sentiments or not and play along.

 

 

 For my image I chose to use this darling bunny. Bunny Blocks  I love this little bunny and all the funny faces he has in the choice of digis, this is the face I chose out of the group of images. I thought this sentiment that I have was perfect for the cute face. What's Up? Doesn't he look like he's saying that?  I again used scraps from my stash for the die cuts and the blue is from my box of scraps. I have three box's (really four) with light, med and dark paper scraps in each so before I go to cut up more paper I check out the box's first. The fourth box is full of strips. you know those 1/2 - 2 inch long strips. Well that's the fourth box. I love being able to use of those scraps.

 This is the card I made using the image above. I kind of wanted to keep it masculine so kept with the earthy colors and images in the photo frame. I do not make enough masculine cards but know I have people asking for masculine cards and thought this was a good one.

Paper Pretties challenge #274.  The challenge for this week is

Paper PIERCING - not piecing but PIERCING.. holes.....    I had to look at the theme a couple of times to make sure I was reading it right..

 

I used this darling little Ballerina Sophia for the image and PIERCED a frame around her and the sentiment. I really like the gray and pinks together and hay look at the left side of the framed girl. I used a zig zag and wove it onto the side. I love this look and will have to remember to use this again. I also used on the right side the negative part of a die, and the heart ... all out of my scrap containers. I am loving those little scrap containers and go to them before I go to my dies.. I am sure there will be times I actually have to use a new embellishment but for now the scraps are the way to go.

Tuesday New Release day Catch the bug 

September and yup Halloween is just around the corner. I don't usually do Halloween cards but this is the new release at Catch the bug, BOO GHOST. He is a cutie if ghost's can be cute. They are easy to color. At lease they way I colored it. Just a touch of light C1 gray in a couple of places. I loved coloring the BOO with the purples.

Tombow 100 day celebration / Color in a picture is like

I was asked by Tombow to participate in the "100 Day's of Tombow" and they sent me the color markers/ retro, Irojiten / vol.6 light grayish color pencils and runner/dot adhesive.  I love these products. I already use the Tombow runner, not this one but a smaller one for those tight places that a ATG can not do. I love this runner and the option for a dab of adhesive or a full run.

Tombow has been creating innovative products for the past 100 years.

They are raising money for the Council for Arts Education, a national nonprofit dedicated to promoting and supporting art education and quality art programs nationwide. I am so happy to be a part of this awesome program.

 

So this is the card I made using the above products from Tombow.. (of course you know it's all held down using the Tombow runner.) believe me it is and it's holding strong.
I used the Retro color Markers to color the sentiment. I like that the pens are nice a juicy and gave me time to color the COLOR in separate colors and then do the rest of the sentiment and still stamped good (of course I huffed on it) and the colors are so vibrant.  I then  stamped the butterfly in Memento ink and used the Irojiten color pencils to color the butterfly. The colors blend wonderfully and cover really well. I will have to try some of the other volumes. There are 9 volumes.
I then used a shimmer mist in couple of colors to spritz the background to give some depth. I used stickles in various spots to give a little shimmer.  Tombow, Thanks so much for letting me participate in this awesome 100 day celebration.

To My Friend / thank you card

Hello everyone, I wanted to share a sweet card I made for my friend Jan Hunnicutt at Simply Handcrafted. She makes awesome cards and  awesome homemade soaps, lotions, bath products. I have been buying soaps from her for Christmas presents (and personal use) and I wanted to send her a card.  If you follow her on Face book which you will find in her link above you can follow along there too and see the awesome products she makes. I wish my computer had a smell button, I am sure her home smells awesome with all those fragrance's. I hope you visit her blog/face book and if you're interested in her products message her. I saw the technique for this design on Dawn O blog she has a video file showing this tech. I loved the idea and made a couple of cards. It's quite simple and gives a great look. So many choices and way to use those scraps, which I did.
