there is no time more fitting - Crafting by Designs - Guest Designer

Wednesday April 5, 2017

I was a winner at Crafting by Designs a few months back and was asked to be a Guest Designer.
I jumped at the chance. Thank you Crafting by Designs for asking me. This challenge is ANYTHING GOES..  Now who doesn't like ATG..  I hope you play along and post your card over at Crafting by Designs.

Spring is in the air. There are so many beautiful flowers blooming and so I went through my stamps and picked out flowers. Lots of flowers. I love being able to mix stamp sets and get the card front that I want.  The main part.. the Sentiment is Simon Says and embossed with Stampin Up black embossing powder on water color paper... Then I dug out flower stamps from Simon Says and Paper Trey Ink and broke out the Ranger inks and stamped away. I use some watered down Ranger inks for the background light blue and a few of the flowers I watered down so they weren't so stark.. I cut the paper down and added some black card stock behind. I added a few sequins and called it complete.  I hope you like this card and it inspires you to create.

You overwhelm me - Stampavie and More #284

Wednesday April 5, 2017

Welcome to another challenge at Stampavie and More #284   Our challenges run for two weeks and I hope you play along..
I got to chose the theme for this challenge.. I chose
WATERCOLOR BACKGROUND / OPT. ADD FLOWERS TO YOUR CARD

I love doing watercolor backgrounds so this choice was not hard.  I used my Kuretake Gansai paints and watered them down and applied to the watercolor paper and let it dry.. I then got out my Flower Patch stampin up stamps set, dies and ink and stamped up a bunch of flowers and leaves.. I ended up not using them all but sure like what I did use. I used Simon Says border scallop die and the sentiment is from that same SU set. I added some Stampin up sequins and pearls. I mounted it on a green piece of cardstock. The black is just a backdrop for the photo so it stood out. This reminds me of spring with all the awesome colorful flowers that are blooming.
So grab your watercolors and make a background and add flowers like I did or something else that you love. I hope you play along. I love seeing what you make.  Just have fun.

Happy Birthday - Catch the bug New Release

Tuesday April 4, 2017

oops.. I posted this card a week early.. it's for April 11th..

It's Tuesday and we have an older image but it's apart of the new release .. Jodie is moving things over to the new store. Have you seen our new Bugaboo Store?.. she has been busy moving items over and this is an old image and thought some of you that have not seen this image in quite awhile might want to see it done up and inspire you to like.  Head over to the store and see the new digs.. and digi's.  some have been retired so if you're looking for some old images you may want to get what you can unless it's already retired.
Any how Catch the bug design team has made up the image.. Head over to see them.

This is Dino Birthday.. Cute image. I printed him out on Kraft paper and colored with Prisma colored pencils.  I love pencil on Kraft.. I have been inspired after following 30 days of coloring at The Daily Marker.. Kathy Racoosin
She is such an inspiration and she uses colored pencils a lot and she does the copics and pencils together.. With this card I just did the pencils for the image.  (I am still learning) and then did a copic around the border of the card. It was just to plain. Now looking at it I think I should of added some Nuvo Drops.. but I didn't.. I kind a also like the CAS look.
I added Simon Says happy birthday. Added twine and a woodin heart colored with copics. (reminds me of the Elvis song woodin heart - sure there was more to the title than that but it was / is a great song.. but anything by Elvis was / is awesome).. I used a white gel pen for high lights.. It was a fast card to make..

2 more Graduation cards

Tuesday April 4 2017

Well if you saw my blog yesterday you saw I made two graduation cards. Well last night I made two more.. Keeping with the same style but different images.

I did some smooshing on white paper with Ranger inks. I then used Marianne tag die and cut out two tags. I used a brad in the tag holes. I then used Impression Obsession grad dies, a male and female. I added them to the tag. I then took the Paper Trey Ink congratulations stamp and black embossed it. To make the background I used Ranger inks in two colors and blended them and spritzed with water to give the cool water drops. I again just used adhesive to the top and bottom of the tag and adhered it to the card base. I then put a gift card size sample under the tag so who ever buys it will know that cash or gift card could be put behind the tag.  I really like how this came out. Simple and fun graduation cards.

2 Graduation cards

Monday April 3 - 2017

I was up late playing in my craft room last night and decided to make some Graduation cards. I made two which I am posting now.

I was digging through some papers and found this over spray paper. ... When I spray papers for backgrounds I put a piece of text paper in a box (along with some paper towels) and I remember the last time I sprayed some card stock I had this awesome piece of over spray paper so I cut it down to 6X6.. I loved the look. It's the tag paper. I used Marianne tag die and cut two tags out of the overspray scrap... Isn't it awesome looking??

For the big background I used some Ranger inks and blended then sprayed with water and blotted off to get the water marks. I used a Paper Trey Ink Congratulation and embossed in black.  I then have this cute Tim Holtz crazy bird and stamped it twice. I colored this one with Zig markers. The bottom one is with Prang watercolors. For the hat which is the accessories stamps/dies I just cut out black cardstock.. I took a glitter pen and did the band and tassel and added a drop of Nuvo drops.  Aren't the glasses cute?  I added a brad to the tag hole.  When I adhered this tag to the card base I just used adhesive to the top and bottom leaving the middle free from adhesives. This way you can add a gift card or money to that area. That I why I created a faux gift card which is size of an actual gift card so who ever buys this card will know how to use it. (I sell my cards at our little store in my neighborhood- we only have 250 people who live here.. we are in the country)  I plan to make more this week.. Lets see what today bring in the creative room..

Baby card..

Please add the challenge graphic below to your blog when you enter your card for our challenge.

This is my card. I used a piece of watercolor paper and added some pink and blue Ranger inks and got the effect I wanted using water.. I then took my Stampin up stencil and texture paste and added some hearts here and there. I let it dry then using some graphic stamps stamped some images. I also used a Inkadinkado baby hand and foot prints (those are in brown) to the card. I layered three washi tapes below the girl and added a rhinestone strip.. I die cut hearts from My Favorite Things and stamps the sentiment Oh baby on one of  the hearts. The sentiments and image are from Taylored Expressions and colored with copics. I added some sequins and layered it on some black card stock base. This card was a lot of fun to make..

Dogs are not our whole life - Catch the bug - ANYTHING GOES

Saturday April 1, 2017

It's April fools day.. Do you do any April fooling??.. I remember a radio station I use to listen to did a joke that really backfired. They played on their station at different times -could be during a song, them talking or a commercial.. of a cat meowing.. this went on for a long time.  Guess people were pulling over and trying to find the cat in their car.. Finally they fessed up what they were doing that they were playing the cat meowing that there is no cat in your car.... Well later in the day a lady called crying saying her boss fired her because she was late to work (for a very very important meeting) after trying to find the cat and waiting for a garage to open and have them look for the cat which now turns out was a April fools joke to the listeners.. she was crying and the DJ was feeling so bad he caused this.. He asked to speak to her boss.. He got on the phone and said she was an excellent employee but the meeting was so important and he was very upset she was so late.. They went back and forth back and forth..finally the boss said April Fools... he got the DJ back.. I laughed so hard it was really funny.

Well no April Fools here.. It's Saturday and Catch the bug has a new challenge.. A favorite.. ANYTHING GOES!!  woo hoo...

I saw these cute little dogs in the Bugaboo Store the female dog is Funny Pup 2 and male dog is Funny pup.. knew I had to use them.  I die cut them out of stitched My Favorite Things square and then used the MFT scallop stitch die. I layered the image behind on black. I colored the dogs with copics and tied a little lace strip to the frame. The sentiment is Simple thoughts. I cut it apart and inked around the edges. I added bling to her collar and flower and a couple by the sentiment. These little guys are so cute. We have two little fur babies.. well really hair babies.. Shih Tzu mix who is 11 lbs. and Shih Tzu / Llasa Apso who is 17 lbs.  They are a joy to us and do make our lives whole. Both are rescues.
