Oh my how is it the end of July already.. I hope everyone is having a great summer, vacation, time..

 

Today we have a new challenge at Catch the bug... it's a

RECIPE challenge

USE 3 STRIPS OF PAPER... DISTRESS EDGES...AND ADD A TAG

 

This is my card using the above recipe.. 3 strips of paper, distressed edges and a tag.. I used the cute image called AKV ice cream  she is so cute. I love the ice cream cone.. my kind of girl. I made the top one caramel then mint chocolate chip, chocolate, and strawberry with white chips. Yummy.

I had some left over water color strips so I used them and a purple club scrap piece. The tag is from PTI. The sentiments are from Simon Says-I curved the sentiment so it would fit better. I used Quick Quote ink for the distressed look around the image. Broke out my corner chomper and rounded the edges.. I added some glossy accents to her glasses and the cherry on top of the ice cream.  The boy in her hair is Lil inker.. I hope you play along. This is the image Birthday Hedgie 2   and it's a girly birthday card. I am loving this designer paper pad and plan to make more cards using this fun paper.  I like the pink and teals along with the brown hedge hog.. I almost put some sprinkles on the ice cream / cup cakes but decided against it. I know we love to go to Cold stone creamery and get our ice cream in the cups.. I am not a cone person when we go there. I like that these can be cupcakes if you also want.

This is my card using the image Coneflower butterfly.. I love the look of coneflowers and this card was fun to make. I love the pink/purple look of the flower with the orange/green center piece.. Of course those colors asked for a teal butterfly..  For this challenge I chose to use the image All dressed up for Christmas... I want to get a running start on Christmas cards.  I chose some basic grey papers and chose the dress colors from the papers to give some brightness to the card. I did not add a sentiment because the tree says happy Christmas.

Where has July gone? I can't believe we are getting close to the end of the month. Now is about the time that summer comes to the state of Washington (the west side).. End of July beginning of August. I feel for y'all that have been having such scorchers when here it's been in the high 60's low 70's and a few days of 80's thrown in there..  I hope you're all having a great summer anyhow. 

 

Welcome to New release at Bugaboo.. we have the image AKV girls 2..

This is the darling image called AKV girls 2.  I think they are best friends and or sisters, cousins, mom and daughter... I tried to do a blonde color for their hair.. I was just playing figured if it didn't come out they would be brown hair.. LOL.. I used a sentiment from Simon says and it comes with a stencil so I just traced around it and cut it out.. Wanted that curve and knew I couldn't free hand with out some lines.. I added some flowers below. I used stickles in the center and after 2 hours it didn't dry so I scooped it out.. well that looked terrible so I added another flower on top and got a different bottle of stickles and added to the center.. It's been 3 hours and they seem to be drying ok. Slow but drying.

Ok another fun card to share.. I have been itching to use some other stamps.. I love digi's but they are not my first love.. I have been using real stamps forever. I really would like to get onto a DT that uses stamps.. yes I would stay with my digi DT's as I like that variety and outlet too.. so if you know anyone who is looking for a new DT member for acrylic/rubber team (wouldn't mind a sketch challenge team using rubber/acrylic that would be nice too.. I would be interest..

 

Any how for this card I took a dark blue card stock and a variety of sprays just to see what would happen.. I really didn't care.. In the end I was happy so I proceeded.. I grabbed some background stamps and just did different stamps here and there.. Then took a couple of my stencils and texture paste and added it.. again here and there.. I let it dry. I had some gold dried up paste so I squirted it with a lot of water.. if it didn't work .. ok it would go in the garbage.. but I got enough to add a few gold sponge dots. I then took a thick piece of vellum I have and stamped and embossed the sentiment. I adhered it down and help to hold the edges I added some half pearls and liquid pearls.. I added some acrylic butterflies .. Yup I am happy.

Hello - just a fun glittery card

I have a fun card to share with you.. My friend Karen and I went to a Scrapbook Expo event a couple weekends ago and its not just scrapbook but card making also.. We found at one of the booths this awesome tape called Bazic double sided tape.. It's nice and thin so we both got the special deal of the day so believe me we have enough tape to last a life time and then some.. I took some strips of tape and added all across a 4.5 x 5.5 piece of white paper. Then broke out my Art institute glitter (oh man those are ancient and hardly a dent in the bottles and I have used them a lot over the years) and just added four different colors in sections.. When I was happy with the look.. and lucky for me it was the first time because that glitter is not going anywhere.. I burnished it down.  Then I just let it be for a few days until I figured out what to do.. Well I saw a video from Jennifer McGuire 5 ways to use background dies..   My answer was in that video.. so I took out a Lil inker overall die.. die cut the glitter piece and while it was all still in the die I turned it over and added 89 pieces of foam tape to all of these pieces. Then I took a piece of sparkly black paper and laid it on the back of the die piece /foam and carefully pulled the black/glitter pieces off.. So these are all raised. The photo below kind a gives you the side profile so you can see it raised.. Now how was I going to get the Hello to stick.. glue and glitter don't mix when you are trying to adhere a sentiment.. so I thought ok double sided tape again. I added it to the back of the pink card stock and die cut the hello and pealed off the tape backing and it's stuck like glue.. here I stared singing the song.. by Sugarland.. Stuck like glue... LOL

Since we don't have a sponsor this week we can use what we want.. Well it's a new stamp set I got in my monthly Simon Says box.. I think it was a month or two back.. I have been itching to use it..  I think it looks like some summer flowers I have seen in neighbors yards.. loving in the country I see a lot of awesome flowers around peoples homes (there seems to be more yard area vs. city life. Always brings a smile so I like using flowers on my cards so it brings a smile to the person getting it.

I stamped the large flower and then masked it and added the other stamps. I rounded the corners and this card makes me smile.

This is my card using After party image.. She has some high heels in her hand and I wanted this to be a summer card so I cut the heels off and added some flip flops.. I chose this background as it was kinda summer tropical feel to it.. I added a lemonade drink and some sequins to give some sparkle to the background. I wanted her to look like she just got off work and is heading to the beach..

Those that follow me know that Bugaboo is a all time favorite of mine.. that is why I am on their design team.. So I chose to use one of their awesome images.. Called Desiree girl.. I chose this one because she looks like my grand daughter. This will be a birthday card for her this year.

I wanted this to be a bright girly girl card (she is turning 12) and so I chose this awesome plaid and I had some scraps of another designer paper so I punched out some hearts and they work perfect with the plaid paper. I hope you play along and it's ALWAYS ANYTHING GOES
