Happy Wednesday it's HUMP DAY.. love that commercial.. Well it's Paper Pretties #282 challenge and this week it's BOLD COLORS... you think my card is bold enough?  ..I had this left over piece of book page on my desk and tore it up to be more uniform and stamped the cat down the margin so it was not full of text. Then used some distressed stains to add bold colors, used color pencils to color the image in. I had some bold fluorescent embossing powder in pink so stamped the sentiment in the lower corner. I like how it came out. This image is Hang in there which is currently out of stock.

I have been looking at some journal blogs and really getting inspired. I got the journal kit that was offered recently from Simon Says and I thought I have to just go for it. It was very scary and I looked at different blogs to see how things were done. Well I came across this lovely saying, I think from Facebook - "sometimes my memories sneak out of my eyes and roll down my cheeks" well I knew I had to use it. So at work I drew out this girl and kind of got an idea of what I wanted to do and came home and made it. I am so happy with how it came out. I would of placed the words better around her but hay it's my first official page so I am fine with it. I used different stencils and torn up papers, paints. I tore paper up to make the girl and just drew around it to make it stand out more. Personally I am impressed.  - My inspiration comes from Sheri Carrol (I hope I got her name right) from SS and Carolyn Dube. They both have truly inspired me.

Catch the bug Monday is Anything but a card day.. So I decided instead of making a book mark or tag I would make a calendar page. I saw this great idea of doing the pieced background on

DO stampin up blog and loved the idea and thought it would make a great background for the calendar. I then used the

bugaboo tag Christmas ornament digi

I love Christmas music so thought the music on the bottom would be a great touch. The ribbon and packaged brad finishes it off.

Welcome to another Unscripted Sketches #228 challenge. Hope you play along and enter a card, scrapbook page or framed art.

 

 I saw this sketch and thought oh OK that will be easy.. WELL I went into my craft room to make my card and stopped dead in my tracks. I was so stumped. I didn't want to use washi tape which was my first choice, or strips of paper so dug in my stash of stamps and saw this large word "FABULOUS"  which is in the Lil Inker spot on and that gave me an idea and the little circle stamps "you are"  "xoxo" and the little word "fabulous" stamped below in yellow (by Simon Says banner sayings) in case no one realized that the blue behind the circles is also the word fabulous. I did a couple of other circles that just had a texture design.  I added a few sequins here and there and called it complete.  I rounded the corners too just to stay kind of in the round theme.  Hope it inspires you to play along with the sketch above.

Christmas Sentiment

                              I used the Gilded Christmas Dove

 
This is the card I made using the Gilded Christmas Dove. I loved coloring this bird and it kind of reminded me of color book coloring. I love the way it turned out. I used the Stampin up swirly wheel to make the background and clear embossed it. I wanted the dove to have the branch in it's mouth so I used the MS punch to make the leaves. I had to add the red PEACE to bring out the red from the bird, the red in the sentiment just wasn't strong enough. I am loving how this card came out. I will be using this lovely bird again.

Wednesday is new challenge over at Paper Pretties #281  the theme this week is FOOD/DRINK

I chose Caffeine the mouse  I don't know if you can see it but I used glossy accents in the spoon and the coffee cup to give the liquid look, and bling around the coffee cup. He was a lot of fun to color and I had these awesome left over scraps of paper from Quick Quote that went with the coffee/brown theme. I hope you get time to play along with the challenge and get your food /drink cards entered. With Thanksgiving coming to us in the USA you should be able to find something to put on your card. Unscripted Sketches #227 challenge. Pretty simple one this week. I hope you find time to play along and enter it at the Unscripted Sketches blog.

 

 

This is the card I made using the above sketch. I thought this sentiment looked like a ribbon with out the tie ends so used it in that place. Of course it needed a bird or two. I had stamped the bird that was in the stamp set but it was too small for my taste so just punched out some MS birds and placed them over the stamp image.. shushhhh done tell anyone.

This has been a very long week. On Wednesday we had to put our precious 15.5 yr old Lakeland Terrier Ginger down. She just couldn't make it any more and it would of been selfish of us to make her stay. It's been a very hard long last few days. We still have Charlie a llaso and he's confused and knows something is wrong especially when me and hubby start crying. When you have four legged fur babies you have certain routines and now that routine is broken and it just brings more tears. I know she is better off and up there in heaven romping through the fields and playing in the water and able to see and be pain free. Maybe she's found our parents and great granddaughter to be with. One day we all will be there and together.

 

 

Welcome to Free Friday at Catch the bug today we have AKV  cowboy and howdy!  I thought this paper looked like wagon wheels and love the red and black. Had to add a simple flower with a wooden button and twine. He has a brad for a belt buckle. fun friendly card to send.

Paper Pretties #280 - EMBELLISHMENT'S  lets see those embellishments.

 

I used Sophia /always in my heart image. The paper by MME/lost & found already had some cool work on it so that really helped and there was a strip that I cut saying Post Card.  I love when the paper saves some work on the card. I added an air plane for I thought that it kind of went with the sentiment. I made some flowers added leaves and a swirl and some viva pearl pen and called it complete. OH I took a little ranger walnut ink and went around the card to give a softer look and colored the darling image.

Saturday theme at Catch the bug is PINK.. Lets see PINK

I decided to use the image Pink ribbon gal Twyla

as she fit the pink theme quite well and it's always good to remember the cause. With different combine fun drives going on at work and charities being recognized I thought this card would be a good reminder to contribute.  I added some glossy accents to the heart but it's kind of hard to see and it was fun to use the fiskar die which I have not used in years. It kind of reminded me of the ribbon. It's on the pink paper. I used a word background stamp with versa mark but it's really hard to see the effect.

 Being on the design team for Catch the bug I decided to use a digi that I have. I love this little cat and the fun look and I knew the paper I wanted to use so this just cracked me up. I thought it looked like the cat was trying to scare the pumpkin and the spiders were a fun touch to. I have a strange sense of humor and it just made me laugh.

Catch the bug is celebrating on Humor Wednesday - World Smile Day.

I hope you put your smile on today.. and every day.  I am on the phones most of the day and being in customer service you get all sorts of calls. I try to smile as I talk on the phone, it does carry over to the listener. It can change their mood and make them more cheerful you can hear it in their voice if it's in yours. Now don't get me wrong there are those that you just have a hard time dealing with so I try to be as cheerful as possible and grit my teeth, which kind of makes a smile if you grit hard enough..lol.  Put your smile on.  :)

Welcome to Paper Pretties #279 - theme this week is HALLOWEEN CARD..

I chose to use an old digi by Fawn called "someone is watching you"  I decided to kind of make a night scene and so did some gray clouds which I thought would make the pumpkin pop. I also had in the paper pad a sheet of paper with a bunch of those eyes and I circled punch it out and placed it on an orange button and tied it to this shiny black ribbon. I don't often do Halloween cards but I do like this one. I also use the wink of Stella glitter pen in the eye's /mouth of the pumpkin and it looks in real life like it's got a glow.

Catch the bug New Release is WIZARD  He kind of looks like he is concentrating quite hard on that wish for...... a Happy Birthday of course.. I decided to make him into a happy birthday card. I am loving the colors, love purple and the teal/yellow really helped the colors stand out. I used those pre-cut stars that I have a million of and never use. I thought this gave a nice shiny touch to the card.

Catch the bug Free Friday gives you AKV Witch

Isn't she funny? I said earlier in the week I am not into Halloween cards so I though I would make this a lift it up card. To make that special someone who needs a lift/laugh kind of forget their problem even if its only for a little while. I would sure smile and feel better if I got this during a down time.

Oh boy is it getting cold and dark out. I am not a fan of this weather especially when I have to be out in it. If I was home with my fire place going, warm comfy cloths and my dog by my side I might not mind it.  I do love this time of year when I can craft and use some of my favorite colors - which just don't work for summer or spring. I might stretch them and make them work but fall seems to go better with green, purple and orange. AND that is the challenge for Paper Pretties #278 - color challenge ORANGE, PURPLE AND GREEN. 

I used Return of cluck for my fun image. I am not much for Halloween cards which would work great with the colors so decided to make a fun friendly card.
