Sunday July 31, 2011 Challenge at Paper Pretties PWC164 - anything but markers http://paperprettiesblog.blogspot.com/ .. Well I used pencils and I am loving the look. I have been seeing lately images done on kraft and then colored with pencils (copics would use up tooooo much ink so no way would I do that) I did have to take a black pen and just go over the parts that kind of got faded with the pencils going over them so much. Paper: PTI kraft, TE card base, MME lime twist, scraps designer paper butterflies.. Ink: just printer ink.. Stamp: Mo Manning ... Accessories: seam binding spritz mustard seed, SU butterfly die, Viva pearl pen, Prisma color pencils, corner chomper.

Saturday July 30, 2011 Card Patterns sketch
One card FIVE challenges... first off for any that saw my tutorial last week on my flower and I mentioned a great flower that can be made for a man card.. Well this is the flower although it's not on a man card. With the cards I was making I just did not make that kind of card to use it but thought you could still see what I was talking about. I think it's called a lolly pop flower.. Its just different size circle punches then distressed the edges, then wet them and scrunched them up and semi dried them then kind of un-folded them, stacked them and added the brad then scrunch to shape and heat tool tried more being careful to stay away from the brad. Hope you try it. I love it for manly cards or any cards. Wednesday July 27, 2011 Christmas in July at Unscripted Sketches http://unscriptedsketches.com/ and today is my spotlight day. My name is Billie Anderson . This is a darling photo of me and my brother Barry Van Sickle. He was 2 and I was 7.. I love the look on our faces. This really brings a smile to my face. My brother is so dear to me and he is such a rock I couldn't love him more he means the world to me. I couldn't ask for a better brother. (I also have another brother by another mother who is 20 years younger than me so quite an age difference so really don't have this kind of photo.) This is my card that I am highlighting for my shot in the spotlight.. To make this flower.. I am sure some of you have seen this done before by other artist and videos but these are still shots of how I created my flower.
I used old book pages you can also use tissue paper, card stock, designer paper even paper bags make darling flowers. Also I chose for this flower the scallop punch but again you can use all sorts of flower dies, circle punches which make darling masculine flowers, I think they are called lollipop flowers.
I like to have at least 6 shapes punched /die cut shapes. If it's a tissue you may want to add a few more.
For this flower I just used Ranger ink and sponged the edges, you can also spritz with a mist or even leave it plain, on the circle ones for masculine I leave plain.
If you use card stock you can use a distressing tool to ruff the edges especially for the masculine flower.
Next I stack them and punch a small hole in the center and add a brad, you can add a decorative brad or a plain brad and later glue a button or gem on top when the flower is completed.
OK at this point if you just use a book you just take the first scallop and bring it up and scrunch it, then the next layer and scrunch it around the first and so on till all six are done.. NOW if you use card stock you may have to wet/spritz the paper as the card stock will crack and not be easy to crunch. Just wet and scrunch and wet next layer and scrunch and keep going till done but be careful as it will also tear if you aren't easy with it. But I must say when it dries it is so nice and holds it's shape really well. Seems to stiffen the paper more than it was before it was wet.
Now you are at the end. You will want to easily start opening the flower starting with the bottom layer and then the next and next till you have the flower open. Then you can just scrunch and maneuver it to the shape you want. Like I said earlier now you can add a button, gem to the center. I love making my own flowers and I hope you give it a try. I hope you try the circle punch using the larger, med and small circles and make a nice masculine flower for those manly cards.. I'll have to do one soon so you can see what I mean.. I'd love to see what you come up with. It's really easy and so forgiving. Thanks for stopping by.

Unscripted Sketches #115 this week is to use the sketch as inspiration and the piggyback part is to use gift wrap. http://unscriptedsketches.com/ So head on over and play along with us. You may need to go to the bottom of the page and click on keep looking to get to the next page and find the sketch if you are looking later in the week. Just keep going till you find our sketch #115.. Hope you play along. This is my card for this weeks inspiration to you all..
Paper: TE card base, holly leaf gift wrap, various designer paper that are scraps... Ink: SU red riding hood, Ranger scatter straw... Stamp: PTI holly jolly wreath for all seasons... Accessories: silver embossing powder. Hint: you probably have figured it out if you have used gift wrap on a craft project, but this is the first time I did it and next time I would cut out the gift wrap (which is very thin and for sure not craft quality) and adhear it to a piece of white card stock then cut to size. I had one heck of a time after I put my score tape on it and making it lay right. This would give it more stability.

One card TWO challenges... Sketch from Deconstructing Jen http://deconstructingjen.com/ and Hand Stamped Sentiments button it up http://handstampedsentiments.blogspot.com/ Well I couldn't sleep too well last night with the dogs panting and anxious and all and those fire works which I'm sure are not bought at the firework stands at least some of them.. I'm so glad I took today off work but then I still got to get up early and play in the craft room making my card. If you read earlier on my blog you know we are updating our kitchen with tile and paint. I still have painting to do today in the kitchen before its complete and I have to get back to work tomorrow so looks like next weekend will be filled with completing the job. Kitchen is sure looking good with tiling, grouting and painting it's all coming together rather nice. Well on to the card.. Paper: PTI kraft, DCWV crafty stack..Ink: Memento black, Quick Quote green tea, blue hawaiian..Stamp: PTI studio style..Accessories: lace, button, floss, Copics

Monday July 4, 2011 Happy Birthday America...Hope everyone has a wonderful, safe 4th. We kind of lay low as our two little four legged kids do not care for the noise. Plus living in the country anything goes. We had quite a few boomers going off last night. Well if you read earlier in my blog I said that I did the tiling in the kitchen all around the back splash. Well yesterday I did the grouting and made curtains for over the sink. OH today this body is not happy...but little does it know today is paint day I have to get this done so I can put everything away I hate a not organized house so it's my incentive to push.

One card TWO challenges... Sweet sketch Wednesday http://sweetsketchwednesday.blogspot.com/ and Bugaboo/Catch the bug anything goes July... Well the image is from Bugaboo. Isn't Guss just too funny. The words are from the image line also but I wrote them as I was too tired last night to take the time to print them and then make sure the die did not cut the words off...
